Taught Year 8 WW - the class has almost finished their licenses and designs. Currently working through class presentation of their PMI on their designs.
Observed year 12 - big esl problems. Teacher spent entire lesson teaching vocab. Teacher employed a vocab routine where students are given a word to define - then discuss in a group then draw a picture to represent the idea or concept.

Wednesday Week 2

period 1 I observed 7 tec 7 period 1. They finished off their aboriginal story role play and then started on a project to produce a timeline showing the invention times of communication objects. The idea being that it would highlight the length of time of the Australian Aboriginal.
Period 2 - was in the wood work room and half of the class finished the safety license on scroll-saw and most have also started their designs.

Thursday Week 2
Observed Year 7, this lesson was held in a sewing room - because of this students received their assignments. Teacher went through the assignment with them. Next lesson will be back to completing their timelines.
Taught Year 10 graphics. Lesson was supposed to be on textures however spent most of the lesson getting students that had missed the lesson up to speed and also reviewing their work on flyovers. Next lesson will start with a textures lesson.

Period 3 observed a Math period for year 12, this was there last period before their trials. It was interesting because it was the first period I have seen where there were several disengaged students.

Introduction
I am a student enrolled at Charles Sturt University CSU in the subject EPT441.
I am studying to become and ICT teacher.
EPT441 is the first practicum component of this course and I am just embarking on it. The journal will log my progress.

Week 1 day 1
Today 14/7/2015 was an important day for me. I started on my first day of practicum work at Asquith Girls. I started on a Tuesday because Monday was a staff development day and Leanne seemed doubtful that it would be good for me to attend (she is a head teacher and was presenting on that day).

For this week I am observing and following Leanne around the school.
First period I saw year 7 - they are working on an aboriginal theme. They also did a bit of work around basic computer safety and backups.
Later in the day I saw year 10. At the moment they are all in the middle of a large assignment work that they do during the lesson. My concern is that there is not much scope to do a lesson plan when they are already settled into their pattern of studyin.
